“For in him we live and move and are!” —Acts 17:28 (TLB)
I can’t believe it! There I was sitting at my desk and reading an old journal from years ago. The sentence was written in capital letters with four exclamation points at the end.
Wow! Have I been praying about this issue since way back then? Just for one second, I was happy to be alone. I was glad no one else was looking at the journal with me.
Talk about stuck.
Can you relate?
Do you have anything you’re stuck on in your prayers? Is there one thing that continues to creep onto the Prayer List?
Do you know what I mean by stuck? You’ve been asking God about a circumstance in your life, for a long time now.
I couldn’t wait to talk to my Mentor the following week. I knew I needed help from a wiser mature woman who could encourage and inspire me to move forward and not look back. I needed a fresh pair of eyes and a strong dose of encouragement.
You see, on my own, I wasn’t moving. I needed to admit to my Mentor I’m stuck. I needed a godly friend and Mentor who would help me keep moving forward in trusting God.
Here are the 3 valuable ways my Mentor helps me keep moving forward:
Seeks Truth
A Mentor spends time praying and studying the Word of God as a daily part of their life. A godly Mentor has learned to seek God’s truth and will lead me to do the same.
John 14:6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Knows Truth
A Mentor has a growing relationship with God and knows His truth and His character. A godly mentor will help me move forward in knowing God’s truth.
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
Speaks Truth
A Mentor desires to speak God’s truth into my life and help me move forward in my faith.
Zechariah 8:16 “These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another.”
My Mentor’s job is not to fix me but to lead me to keep moving forward with God.
I know it isn’t easy to say I’m stuck or I need help out loud. Be encouraged. Begin by taking a baby step moving forward towards God and a Mentor.
If you find yourself sitting at your desk wondering about life and God’s truth, allow me to be a friend and whisper into your heart, “Keep moving forward. Seek God. Seek a mentor. It changed my life and I know for certain it will change yours!”
