Amazingly, at each stop along my life journey, whether I lived in one place for two years or thirteen, I’ve met people who made an impact on who I was becoming. I grew and changed through knowing and sharing life with each friend and mentor. That’s why I firmly believe who is pouring into your life is vastly more important than where you live or what job you’re working at this moment.
Here are 4 Little Known Secrets women in Mentoring relationships know that changed their lives:
1.Mentoring Can Propel You Forward
These women stopped trying to do life alone, recognizing they needed a mature woman further down the road of life experiences to walk with them in becoming the woman God created them to be. Stepping out and moving forward seemed impossible alone but with a Mentor, the journey was finally different and doable.
Proverbs 4:25 “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.”
2.Mentoring Helps You Get Unstuck
Being real with my mentor and finally recognizing where I was stuck was a huge positive accomplishment in my life. Having a mentor pour into my life and speak encouraging words of wisdom on a regular basis gave me hope for a positive change.
Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. —Alan W. Watts
3. Mentoring Shows You How To Live Through Brokenness.
My life changed when my mentor sat down with me on a regular basis to help me talk through my brokenness and see God’s Word come alive in the deepest part of the situation. For the first time in my life, I received practical tips to help grow my faith in the good and bad times of my life.
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”
4. Mentoring Reconnects You with the Truth
Can anyone be trusted anymore? Bombarded by the world and pulled in a million directions. Finally, as my Mentor invested her time, love and prayers into my life my eyes were opened to the truth. God knows me by name, His promises are true and He has a great plan for my life.
Jer. 29:11-13 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
It’s true!
