Have you ever noticed when the season changes you do too? I enjoy the summer, spring, and winter, but I think fall may be my favorite. How about you?
During the fall season, the scenery begins to change right before your eyes. The vibrant colors of the fall leave with their fire reds and brilliant oranges seem picture-perfect.
I love to open all the windows of the house and allow the brisk air to freshen up the inside with familiar fall smells. Who needs room fresheners or candles?
Fall is cozy.
“Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.” Elizabeth Lawrence
If you are one of those people who have a fireplace you finally have a reason to use it. There is nothing more healing for the heart and soul than sitting in front of the toasty warm fire.
Rest. Peace. Calm.
What’s that?
It’s so easy to forget how to rest with all of the hustle and bustle of the world. Too many pressures to keep up with everything at home, school, work, and church.
Here are 3 ways to watch the colorful season change with grace.
Walk
Intentional scheduled walks in a park or through the woods and gather your favorite autumn leaves. Take your Mentor or a close friend along on your walk. Use this time to think, pray or communicate with someone face to face.
Sit on a park bench and watch God’s creation.
Watch the leaves gracefully dance in the wind and swirl around on the ground by your feet. No phones or technology allowed. Go alone sometimes or take a friend or your Mentor. Focus the conversation around the goodness and grace of God in your life. If you are seeking a mentoring relationship and would like to learn more click HERE
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13
Serve
Help a neighbor rake leaves and spend time outside doing good for others expecting nothing in return. Serve others just because you can! Spend time praying for others.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Seasons change. People change. Circumstances change. But God!
But God remains the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Hebrews 13:8
With God, our future is safe and eternal.
“Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven’s lights. Unlike them, He never changes or casts shifting shadows.”
James 1:17
My heart’s desire is to encourage each one of us to spend time resting and spending time with God.
Observe God’s colorful outdoor creation. Spend quiet time with God. Serve and refresh others and you too will be refreshed.
It’s time to release the busy-ness of life and create a life full of God’s grace and peace.
As fall arrives what will you do differently this year? Make one change this week in have room for a quiet walk or time of reflection and rest in your plans and schedule.
Join me today in praying with thanksgiving and praise for this beautiful season God created in all its splendor. Thanksgiving and praise will keep us living a life at peace.
