Too many times I see my fellow millennial friends diminish their self-worth for various reasons. It’s so easy to get caught up in the world’s comparison trap.
Let me just share…this is a struggle of mine too.
We compare ourselves with others in so many ways. Maybe we think we’re not the perfect height or body shape. Or we believe we don’t have the perfect relationship. Or we hope no one knows how our family is dysfunctional at its very core.
Why do we compare?
[easy-tweet tweet=”The world encourages us to compare and compete, but what does God say?” user=”@JaymeHull” hashtags=”#compare #encourage”]God never compares you and me with others. The truth is, God has uniquely created each one of us. I see it every day at my job.
Let me explain.
Your Iris
Did you know your iris has over 200 unique characteristics to its anatomical make-up and appearance? This is why iris scanners are being utilized more and more in today’s world as recognition systems. Fingerprint recognition only follows about 40 unique characters making it less complex than iris scanning and less detailed. Your iris patterns are unique to you and you only.
Iris patterns and fingerprints are not the only characteristics about you that are unique. God made each and everyone one of us different and special on purpose for a purpose.
You Are God’s Masterpiece
If you sit back for a few minutes and think about where God has you in life and what He has accomplished through you, you will see you are God’s masterpiece, a work of art.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
I encourage you to join me today and let’s begin a new way of thinking.
What would happen if we stopped comparing our life circumstances to each other?
What if we didn’t allow the world to dictate who we should be or how we should think?
What would happen if we didn’t allow the social media to brainwash us into thoughts of jealousy, discontentment, or self-doubt?
Be encouraged!
God loves you for you.
He created you with over 200 different unique iris characteristics, more than 40 different fingerprint characters, thousands of hairs on your head, and breath in your lungs.
You, Lord, are our Father, we are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
Isaiah 64:8
Our comparing and complaining about how we were created is telling God He failed and messed up.
God does not fail.
Ever.
You are His perfect creation. His masterpiece.
It’s OK to stop comparing.
“So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
Genesis 1:27
Believe in who you were created to be in His image and show the world the peace you can have accepting the person God created you to be.
“Let the King be enthralled by your beauty; honor Him, for He is your Lord.” Psalm 45:11
