“For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.Today we will dig into one verse and apply it to our daily lives.” Luke 2:11
In Luke 2:11 we find the only place in the entire Bible where we have three titles for Jesus written in one verse. Each title is a powerful description of Jesus the Son of God.
The first title we read in this verse eleven is Savior. Most of the time people think of Savior as Mediator. Yes, Jesus was Savior and had an incredible saving ministry. He came to seek and save the lost.
Matthew 1:20 -21
“But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
I once heard a Pastor say,” If we were in great need for information, God would have sent a Teacher. If we were in great need for technology, God would have sent a Scientist. If we were in great need of someone to correct social problems, God would have sent a Politician. But we were in need of salvation so God sent a Savior.”
The second title we see in verse eleven is Christ. Jesus is Christ the Messiah. He was perfect and without sin. He was 100% God and 100% man and He is the One and Only.
The third and very important title written in this verse is Lord. Lord means Master. We are to live a life with Jesus as Lord over everything. That means every detail of our lives.
Many people believe He is Savior. Another strong percentage of followers believes in Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah. But, few make Him their Lord and Master.
Christmas is the perfect time to love Jesus as your Savior, crown Him as the Christ and make Him Lord and Master of your life.
Is Jesus Christ the Lord over your talents, finances, emotions, time, thoughts and all things?
This Christmas will you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord? Do others around you know the Lord is your Master?
Romans 10: 9-10
“…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
As we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord, He will acknowledge us in heaven.
Matthew 10:32-33
“Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.”
Be encouraged. You can choose to make this a Magnificent Christmas by making Jesus Christ the Lord of your life!
Lord,
Christmas is a celebration of your birth. I love this time of year but I love You even more. Forgive me if I have not allowed You to be Lord and Master of my life from the inside out. Please help me to begin today making You Lord and Master. May all the people around me see a difference in me and ask me about my faith. Thank you Jesus.
