“…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Hebrews 12:1(NIV)
Our daughter had the most beautiful goldilocks curly hair when she was a toddler. No matter where we were people would stop us and comment on her beautiful curls. We’d always smile and say thank you but no one had any idea how hard it was to untangle those adorable but tight little curls.
The smiles turned to frowns and tears when it was time to comb her hair. The knots were extremely difficult to untangle so I waited for my sweet and gentle Mother to help me with my dilemma. My daughter was so much happier when her patient Grandma combed her hair and it didn’t bother me as long as the knots were removed. I love how she still remembers and treasures those special days with her Grandma.
Truth be told. You and I may look wonderful on the outside (or on our Facebook page or Instagram) but if anyone could look deep inside of us they would see something completely different. Most of us have knots in our lives that need to be untangled.
It may be that you are dealing with mental knots from anxiety or depression. You may need to be untangled from a bad relationship or bad habit in our lives. Some of us are feeling the stressful knots of worry about our career, your looks or your finances. Secretly you may be longing for some kind of relief and wonder if this mess will ever get untangled and taken out of your life.
I can relate my friend. Been there.
One thing I’m striving to do each day is “get out the way” and allow God to do the painful thing of untangling my stuff. My life has changed as I have witnessed God move in my life and in the lives of some many other people.
God has a plan for each one of us. He promises to walk alongside us in our deepest needs. God loves to be invited into our messes and knots.
You may be thinking, “Sure Jayme, that sounds great but I don’t even know where to start? How Can I Get My Life Untangled?”
