Doing life alone was never God’s Master Plan for you and I. He knew we would need to be encouraged by others as we walk through life and encounter trials and temptations. Mentors are godly people who help us move closer to God one step at a time through every aspect of life.
Mentoring is meeting one-on-one and face-to-face.
“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.”
John C. Crosby
Can you imagine the transformation in your life if you had someone who would invest their time, love, wisdom and prayers into you on a weekly basis? What would they say?
FOUR THINGS A MENTOR SAYS:
1. “I am with you.”
First of all, Mentors are strong encouragers who help guide you through the twists and turns of life.
Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times.”
2. “I am listening to you.”
Also, Mentors are patient listeners. Actually being heard and understood is powerful and encouraging.
James 1:19 “Understand this, my dear brothers and sister: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
3. “I care about you.”
Mentors are sincere and authentic people who care about you. They ask you questions like: “How can I help you?” or “What would you like to discuss today?” Barnabas was a great example of a caring and wise mentor for Paul and others in the Bible. Read through his story in Acts 9.
4. “I am praying for you.”
Most of all, Mentors are strong prayer warriors. My life was transformed one night, when my mentor stopped in her tracks and prayed over me right there in the parking lot. Two days later she called me to see if my prayer had been answered and how I was doing with the circumstances. She didn’t just say she would pray, she did it.
James 5:16 “Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results.”
Do you need encouraged? What kind of impact on your life would it make if a godly wise Mentor met with you weekly? It’s time to start looking at the people around you and ask God to help you find a godly mentor.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up.”
Be encouraged! Now is the right time to begin the mentoring relationship journey.
